DO SAFELISTS REALLY WORK?
YOU BET THEY DO!

If you've been involved in internet marketing for any length of time, I'm sure you've read the 'Great Debate', i.e. whether or not safelists work, and if they do what type you should use (free or paid). Let's not forget about those auto-submitters, are they dilluting the marketing potency of safelists?

Well, I can say wholeheartedly, that in my humble l'il world, safelists not only work . . . THEY WORK GREAT! How do I know? I know because I use them EVERYDAY, and I use lots of them. Safelists are such an important part of internet marketing, that I can honestly say at least 75% of my promotions are done with them. The other 25% is divided between ezines, FFA emails and my own list of customers, many of whom I first acquired by posting on safelists.

I track everything I promote, and not only do I know that safelists pull, through ad-tracking I know which safelists pull the best. Some pull on certain promotions, and some pull on other promotions, then there's the ones that get responses on everything you promote. I have my favorites, the "tried and true" safelists that no matter what it is I'm promoting, they're responsive. I'm no marketing genius, but when I try out a new ad, or change a headline, etc. I'll put it in the safelists first. They're my first line of attack. If the ad makes it there, then it'll make it on the ezines, the FFA emails, etc.

Now don't get me wrong, ezine advertising REALLY works, but it is a lot more expensive than using safelists. Here's what I mean: Let's say you have $100 to spend every month on promoting your business, product, whatever. Now to advertise in a good quality ezine, especially a solo ad, you'll do good to get 4 submissions out of that $100. In contrast, even if that only bought you an annual membership on only one safelist (and that would be really expensive), you can mail to that safelist EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR! That's a heck of a lot more for your money, and most safelists cost an average of $50 a year, some more, but many are even less. Some charge per month, but you can cancel anytime.

With safelists, if you need to change your advertising, you can do it in a day. You can stop promoting one product or service and change to another in a day, where with ezines ads, you're actually reserving "space", and that "space" could be for months ahead. With safelists you pretty much have complete control of when your ads go out. I say almost because some safelists will mail out at certain times, but the majority of them will mail your ad out when you submit it.

Here's a couple of examples of how safelists have worked for me:

I promoted TrafficWave thru safelists, and in only 8 days I had over 200 responses and added 7 PAID members. Within 60 days, there were 50 total members with 34 of them being PAID members. I had made the TOP TEN Fast Track Earners for two months in a row (September 2002 - 6th place, October 2002 - 4th place).

I also promoted AdMinder for only 30 days and not only do I get commissions every month, once I got my third sale, I get to use the service for ONE FULL YEAR FOR FREE! As of the writing of this article I have over 330 active ad codes with AdMinder, categorized by promotion. At a moment's notice, with just a couple of clicks I can see what promotions are pulling the best, where they are pulling the best and what ad is pulling the best and I'm using it FREE for ONE FULL YEAR! (By the way, AdMinder is currently giving the FREE year membership to anyone who gets three sales, so you might want to look into it. They also give you a 14 day Free Trial to check out their awesome service.)

. . . I'd say safelists work pretty good, wouldn't you?

To have a complete arsenal for your marketing, safelists should be considered essential.

There are hundreds (probably thousands) of safelists on the internet. Some are really responsive and others aren't. Like I said before, I use a lot of them and I've setup a page of the ones I use, and another page of the ones that have been really good for me.

Now almost all the safelists I use allow FREE members, but you normally can only mail once a week if you join as a freebie. It's hard to really test a list when you're only mailing to it once a week, however I have joined many a list as a freebie, and when I get results from it, I upgrade to PAID / PRO as soon as possible. On all the HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SAFELISTS, I strongly suggest that you join as a PRO, or upgrade as soon as you can, because my responses grew ten-fold once I was able to mail daily.

Feel free to signup to safelists from both lists (actually the Recommended Safelists are also on the other list). I only have a Recommended list because these safelists have been responsive to everything I advertised on them, and I mean REALLY RESPONSIVE. If a safelist was not responsive at all, it won't make the list. If it didn't do anything for me, I can't recommend it.

These last few sentences will be dedicated to auto-submitters. YES, I USE AND RECOMMEND THEM! Oh, I still read a lot of the emails that come in to my list/subscribe email address (and I get well over 20,000 a day), but by using the auto-submitter, I cut my submission time from over several hours to less than one hour. This gave me a lot more time to answer my customers questions, write long winded articles (grin), read more emails, and browse for more products and services to try out. I went the old-fashioned route of logging in, copying and pasting for every single safelist, and once you have over 50 safelists, it really becomes a chore, and it's unnecessary. There are some safelists that I still manually submit to for one reason or another, but if I'm given an option, I'd rather auto-submit.

There are a few really good submitters out there. I've tried both iPostAd and The Subber and think they are very good. Both are online submitters, so you don't have to use your computer's resources - just login, submit your ad, logoff and go about your business. From that point you can even shut your computer off because their servers will do the submitting to all the safelists for you. Both are monthly subscriptions, and while iPostAd is almost 3 times the price of The Subber, it has more features.

Safelists are definitely an integral part of internet marketing, and are a resource you should NOT overlook.

If you have any questions or need help, I'm only an email away.
